Setswana, or Tswana, is a Bantu language of Botswana and South Africa, written in the Latin alphabet. Both countries issue civil records in English, so a Setswana speaker's birth, marriage or death certificate, identity document or academic record is usually already in English, and translation is needed less often than one might expect.
Where a sworn statement, letter, church record or older document genuinely exists in Setswana we translate it into English, match names to the passport, and report the issuing office as printed. Both countries issue documents under Hague apostille arrangements, and we translate an attached apostille together with its certificate. A translation is issued by a certified translator or carries a sworn affidavit before a commissioner of oaths, and acceptance ultimately depends on the receiving institution, such as IRCC, the IRB or a provincial registry.
