Myene is a cluster of closely related Bantu varieties, including Mpongwe, Orungu, Galwa and Nkomi, spoken around the estuary and coast of Gabon near Libreville and Port-Gentil. It appears in the Latin alphabet in church and educational material, but it is a home and community language: Gabon's official language is French, and its birth, marriage and identity records are issued in French, so a request for Myene translation is almost always a request to translate French civil documents into English.
