Almost everyone who speaks Mirandese also speaks Portuguese, which is the working language of Portuguese administration, so interpreting requests are unusual and we discuss the real need before assigning. Mirandese has a written standard, but civil records from Portugal are issued in Portuguese, so certified document work runs from Portuguese into English or French. We provide a full translation with a signed certificate of translation accuracy, or a sworn affidavit before a commissioner of oaths where a receiving body asks for one.

Mirandese is a small Romance language spoken by around 10,000 people in the Miranda do Douro region of northeastern Portugal, near the Spanish border. It's a co-official regional language of Portugal alongside Portuguese - recognized by law in 1999. Linguistically it's closer to Spanish-region Astur-Leonese than to Portuguese.
