Lozi interpreting comes up mainly in refugee, family-reunification and settlement files, with occasional medical and legal appointments. English is an official language of Zambia, so most Zambian civil records, including birth, marriage and death certificates and school results, are issued in English and need no translation for a Canadian institution. Lozi appears mainly in church and community records and personal statements, and it is those Lozi-only passages that we translate into English or French rather than a whole certificate.
Where translation is required we provide it with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy, or a sworn affidavit before a commissioner of oaths if the receiving body asks.
