Latvian is fairly uniform, with only a minor regional form, Latgalian, in the east, so one interpreter generally covers speakers from across the country. Many Latvians also speak Russian, but that is confirmed rather than assumed, since the two are separate languages and a speaker may want the appointment held in Latvian.

Latvian is the official language of Latvia, with around 1.7 million native speakers.
