Certified Greek translation is a large part of most Greek files. Greek is written in its own alphabet, and civil records from Greece and Cyprus carry stamps, seals and official endorsements that have to be translated in full, not skipped. Greece and Cyprus are both party to the Apostille Convention, so many records arrive apostilled, and the apostille is translated together with the document. We deliver a full English or French translation with a signed certificate of accuracy, or a sworn affidavit before a commissioner of oaths where the receiving body prefers one.
The records we see most are birth, marriage and death certificates, family status records, wills and estate papers, property deeds, diplomas and transcripts for credential assessment, and notarial documents. Names are transliterated from Greek consistently to match the passport spelling, with any variant on the original noted for the officer, since an inconsistent name is a common reason a file is queried.
