Gagauz is a Turkic language, close to Turkish, but it is written today in the Latin alphabet and its speakers are overwhelmingly bilingual in Russian, and often in Romanian or Turkish as well. When you book a Gagauz interpreter it helps to tell us which of these languages the speaker is most comfortable in for official matters, because many Gagauz speakers handle formal business in Russian even when Gagauz is their mother tongue. Certified Gagauz translation is uncommon, because civil documents from Moldova are generally issued in Romanian or Russian rather than in Gagauz. Most records we handle for this community therefore run from Romanian or Russian into English or French. Where a document is genuinely in Gagauz we deliver a complete English or French translation with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy, or a sworn affidavit before a commissioner of oaths where required.
