Fang is written in the Latin alphabet, but its speakers' civil records come in the official language of the issuing country: Spanish in Equatorial Guinea, French in Gabon and Cameroon. A Fang family's birth, marriage or identity record is therefore translated into English from Spanish or French, and a request framed as Fang translation is in practice a certified Spanish or French to English translation for an IRB claim or IRCC file.
